FAQs

It is my intention to provide my guests with professional service. The following policies and procedures serve as a guide for first-time and repeating guests of Muscle Melody Massage.

Benefits of Massage

  • Over time, the body builds up unhealthy amounts of stress hormones in response to work deadlines, traffic jams, relationship problems and more. These hormones can cause physical problems, like digestive issues, headaches and sleeplessness. Relaxation massage decreases the amount of stress hormones in the body, leaving clients feeling completely relaxed and rested, even after the session is over. The techniques used during the massage trigger changes in the brain’s chemistry, resulting in reduced stress and an improved mood.
  • Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion
  • Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body’s natural defense system
  • Improve the condition of the body’s largest organ—the skin
  • Increase joint flexibility
  • Lessen depression and anxiety
  • Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation
  • Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles
  • Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body’s natural painkiller

What can I expect?

My massage draws from different disciplines that I pull together to create the best massage for the client. These include shiatsu, deep tissue, Swedish massage, hot stone, and bamboo incorporated into the massage at no additional charge.

I am happy to adjust pressure, temperature, musical volume, work longer on an area or move on if you request it.

You may choose to: leave on as much clothing as needed for your comfort level, refuse any massage methods, or stop the massage at any time.

You will always be modestly draped. Only the area being massaged will be undraped and you will be kept informed of the area to be massaged.

You may choose to talk not talk during the massage. Conversation will be guided by the client’s direction.

Out of respect for other clients and practitioner please no heavy scents or perfumes.

What if I have an allergy?

Please let me know. I use organic oils and lotions.

Where do I park?

There is free street parking right in the front of the studio. No steps need to be climbed to reach the studio.

What’s it all about?

I don’t know. If you find out let me know.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, cards, and local checks.

Do you accept insurance?

I currently do not accept insurance.

Is gratuity expected?

No, but always welcome.

When should I arrive for my massage?

Please arrive for your appointment 15 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time. This allows you the time to fill out the appropriate client form (new clients), change and prepare for the service. All massages have a specific time schedule and early arrival allows for a relaxed and unhurried experience. If late arrival is inevitable, your service may be shortened in order to keep on schedule. The original treatment time will be charged.

Late Arrival/Cancellation Policy

Clients are responsible to be on time for their appointments.  I am not under any obligation to extend the therapy session. The client is responsible to pay for the full time they have booked with the therapist if they are late. Your appointment time is reserved for you only. If you miss an appointment or are unable to give twenty four (24) hours’ notice when you need to change or cancel your appointment, you agree to pay Muscle Melody Massage in full for the booked appointment time.

Informed Consent

Prior to each massage session, the treatment plan will be discussed with you. At your first visit with you will receive a copy of the massage therapy policies and will be asked to sign the consent stating that you have read the information, understand it, and agree to comply with the professional massage therapy policies and procedures. Clients who I have not seen for at least a year may also be asked to fill out this form.

Scope of Practice

I am a licensed professional and held to the highest standards of the American Massage Therapy Association.

Massage Therapy is a profession in which the practitioner applies manual techniques, and may apply adjunctive therapies, with the intention of positively affecting the health and well-being of the client.

Massage therapists do not diagnose or prescribe for medical conditions. I may refer you to a medical doctor for diagnosis. My services are not intended as an alternative for proper medical attention for specific conditions.

Inappropriate Behavior Policy

It’s important to understand that massage therapy and body work services are a therapeutic health aid and are non-sexual. I reserve the right to end a therapy session in the case of sexual innuendo or advances from the client. Any illicit or sexually suggestive remarks or advances made by the client will result in immediate termination of the massage, and you will be liable for full payment of the scheduled session.

Confidentiality

I treat all client visits and conditions as confidential. As such, I will not discuss your visit with anybody without your express permission.

It is the responsibility of the client to keep the me informed of any medical treatment currently being taken, and to provide written permission from the physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, etc., that the massage may be continued.

The client must also keep me informed of any changes in health conditions.

For clients undergoing chemo and radiation therapies—please note that I require a doctor’s note that states the doctor is aware of and agrees to the desired treatment.
